MLA MAPR Calculator (closed-end)

Computes the Military Annual Percentage Rate for closed-end consumer credit only, and tests it against the 36 percent limit that 10 USC §987(b) imposes and 32 CFR §232.4(b) sets out. Because §232.4(c)(2)(i) directs that a closed-end MAPR is calculated by Regulation Z's own annual-percentage-rate rules over the wider charge set in §232.4(c)(1), this page solves the Appendix J actuarial equation from a cash-flow schedule rather than dividing charges by an original principal. The term is day-granular, so a 45-day loan is expressible instead of being quantised to whole months. Table: MLA-DOD-32CFR232-2015-10-01.

⇄ Related node. This page derives the payment schedule from described loan terms. If you already hold the cash flows, use ART-616 · MLA MAPR actuarial recompute, which recomputes the same MAPR from caller-supplied cash flows instead of deriving them.

ⓘ Not legal or compliance advice. Covered-borrower status must be verified via the DoD MLA database (dmdc.osd.mil/mla) before extending credit. This tool computes the MAPR arithmetic; it does not query the DoD database.
Scope and schedule
Open-end credit, including every credit card account, is priced on a billing-cycle balance by 32 CFR §232.4(c)(2)(ii)(A) and (B). That method is not computed here, so declaring an open-end class returns no rate rather than a closed-end number.
The sum handed to the borrower before any charge collected at consummation.
Single-payment path. Appendix J (b)(4)(ii) takes the term as the unit-period; (b)(5)(vi) and (vii) set 365 divided by the days in the term as the unit-periods per year.
Installment path. A schedule longer than 600 payments is out of scope and returns no rate.
Installment path. 12 for a monthly unit-period per Appendix J (b)(5)(ii).
Leave at zero to derive each payment from the amount advanced plus the finance charge.
Charges included by 32 CFR §232.4(c)(1)
Every charge below carries its own input and every one of them moves the reported rate. A charge collected at consummation is money the borrower never receives, so it reduces the amount financed; a finance charge is already expressed by the payment stream and is never deducted a second time.
§232.4(c)(1)(iii)(A). Carried by the payment schedule.

§232.4(c)(1)(i).
§232.4(c)(1)(i).
§232.4(c)(1)(ii). Credit-related ancillary products.
§232.4(c)(1)(iii)(C). Included on this path; the $100 figure in §232.4(c)(2)(ii)(B) belongs to the open-end method.
Application fee and its carve-out, 32 CFR §232.4(c)(1)(iii)(B)
An application fee is included by default. It drops out only when all three predicates below hold together. With anything less than all three, the fee stays in.
Bona fide fee claimed, 32 CFR §232.4(d)(1)
That exclusion reaches a credit card account under an open-end plan only. On closed-end credit there is no such exclusion, so an amount entered here is recorded, included anyway, and flagged.

Copy this paragraph into Claude, OpenClaw, or any MCP-aware agent to run this exact tool, with this sample, and verify the artifact.

Run the AINumbers MCP tool `compute_mla_mapr`. Task: Compute the Military Annual Percentage Rate for CLOSED-END consumer credit and tests it against the 36 percent limit that 10 USC 987(b) imposes and 32 CFR 232.4(b) sets out.
Call it with arguments: {"policy_parameters":{"credit_class":"closed_end","payment_structure":"single_payment","loan_amount":500,"term_days":45,"finance_charge_total":28.44}}
Verify before trusting: call `verify_execution_hash` on mcp.ainumbers.co (https://mcp.ainumbers.co/mcp) with the parameter `claimed_hash` set to the returned `execution_hash`, passing the full artifact the run returned (the object containing `policy_parameters` + `output_payload` + `execution_hash`; equivalently `policy_parameters` + `output_payload` with `claimed_hash`), not the bare hash string.
